I loved you first: but afterwards your love
Outsoaring mine, sang such a loftier song
As drowned the friendly cooings of my dove.
Which owes the other most? my love was long,
And yours one moment seemed to wax more strong;
I loved and guessed at you, you construed me
And loved me for what might or might not be –
Nay, weights and measures do us both a wrong.
For verily love knows not ‘mine’ or ‘thine;’
With separate ‘I’ and ‘thou’ free love has done,
For one is both and both are one in love:
Rich love knows nought of ‘thine that is not mine;’
Both have the strength and both the length thereof,
Both of us, of the love which makes us one.

Wow! It’s awesome poetry❤️👑☀️

On the first reading it felt complex and difficult to follow
Then I thought it became simple
And then I found at certain stops it doesn’t allow for understanding
And yet it is a simple phrase of three words
I love you
So intricately designed.

Hi, Sh. I just browsed and loved what I saw here, though the site would only load as far as April. Perhaps a glitch. Anyway, I loved what I read.
This one in particular reads like a Shakespearean sonnet. Did you know? Sure you did! It’s just so lovely, indeed. You have that knack I wish I had. Loved this poem to pieces. Keep going, this can only get better. Yay! So glad I read. Thank you.
